In and around Schruns

Granted, I like mountains very much. I am drawn for decades in those Regions, where one hand is closer to the sky and where on the other hand, the clocks tick much slower. Maybe because I Capricorn as "emblem" and he would have to take me into its realm ...

Add to my favorite holiday destinations undoubtedly includes the neighborhood in the south of Vorarlberg "most wonderful bare" Montafon, which offer Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall a unique setting.

In the 39 km long, beautiful alpine valley that takes in quick Bludenz its beginning and in the impressive Silvretta High Alpine Road "opens" it gave me a cozy little town of Schruns all quite taken with. Perhaps, because where the Montafonerbahn has its terminus, the valley basin, is particularly broad. Or because of the mountainous landscape around SchrunsTschagguns is simply terrific.

Or because you can do from here made raft. On foot. With lines and walking buses. And finally with the Hochjochbahn. For the Hochjoch remains the mountain of Schruns. And the panoramic views from Kreuzjoch (2 395 m) from which one passes from the top station of the chairlift to the Worms Senniggrat hut - where you can stop off course - achieved in just under one hour, is quite simply breathtaking on a clear day.

Since stops the time simply because the world so to speak, one foot is and because it is at once very small, appears amidst the lofty mountains. There, that is the paradise for hikers stand on the Golm and the mountains Sulzfluh (2,818 m), three towers (2,830 m) and Drusenfluh (2,827 m) in the eye. And it is this very special mountain idyll that is not kitschy but real draws me again and again to the "country" and of course the Montafon. To Schruns, of course.

But there is one more thing: For the 2643 m high Zimba, which can not be overlooked easily, and was climbed in 1848 by Anton Neier from Bludenz for the first time by fire in Brandner, it has done to me. In fact, greets the Matterhorn in Vorarlberg, is today a popular destination for mountaineers and climbers, as it were, on all sides.
